ABOUT UNDERWATER ACADEMY

Why Choose Our Diving Courses?

Our student ratio is strictly 3:1. This means that our instructors will take a maximum capacity of three students. We strongly believe that when it comes to diving, a fruitful learning experience requires an instructor's full attention. This ensures that the instructor will have the time and mental space to cater to a student's learning needs and give students the time needed to acquire underwater confidence truly. Students will also get to learn the course requirements at their own pace. Our open water diving course in Singapore is designed for beginners who want to explore the underwater world safely and confidently.

Beginner Tips for Learning to Dive in Singapore

1. Do I need to know how to swim?

You don’t need to be a strong swimmer, but you should be comfortable in water.

2. Is scuba diving safe?

Yes, when proper training and safety protocols are followed. The course teaches you how to dive safely and handle emergencies.

3. How long does it take to get certified?

Typically 3–4 days: 1 day of theory & pool training, and 2–3 days of open water dives. Please refer to each courses for the details.

4. What is included in the course?

Most courses include digital learning materials, pool/confined water sessions, open water dives, equipment rental, and certification.

5. What do I need to bring?

Swimwear, towel, a change of clothes, and sometimes your own mask/snorkel for comfort. All other gear is usually provided.

6. Can I dive if I wear glasses or contact lenses?

Yes. You can wear soft contact lenses or use a prescription mask.

7. Do I need to be physically fit?

You should be in generally good health. You’ll need to complete a medical questionnaire — in some cases, a doctor’s clearance may be required.

8. What if I feel scared or panic underwater?

Instructors are trained to guide you through fear and help you stay calm. You’ll also learn how to manage stress and surface if needed.

9. Is the certification permanent?

Yes, Open Water certification is for life, but it’s recommended to refresh your skills if you haven’t dived in over 6–12 months.

10. Where can I dive after getting certified?

Anywhere in the world! Your certification is internationally recognized.
